Over the last week, the UK has been battered by storms. There has been endless rain, never-ending gales, and dreary grey skies.
As a result, all I’ve wanted to do is curl up with a book, a blanket and a steaming mug of hot chocolate!
This recipe for Vegan Mayan Hot Chocolate was created after my sons studied the Mayans at school last year. We made this for their creative homework – and it was such a hit that I had to share it with you!

Indulgent, creamy and full of flavour – as well as kick thanks to the Cayenne – it’s deliciously simple to make, and perfect for snuggling with!

I hope you love it too!
Enjoy,

Mayan Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
- Serves 2
- 2 cups dairy-free milk of choice (I used cashew)
- 50-80g dark chocolate, finely chopped (depends on how rich you want it!)
- 1 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tbsp maple syrup / date syrup (or to taste)
- 1-2 tsp cinnamon powder
- Cayenne pepper, to taste
- Pinch sea salt
- Pinch ginger
- Optional add-ins: I added 2 tsp Mood Potion from My Healing Kit for an extra boost!
Method:
- Heat the milk in a saucepan until warm, then whisk in remaining ingredients until smooth and chocolatey. Pour into mugs and enjoy immediately.
