Mango, Lime & Turmeric Lassi

When I was at University, I was lucky enough to travel around India. In a colourful, wonderful whirlwind of a holiday, I travelled around the Golden Triangle, seeing all manner of wonderful things.

I saw tiger cubs feeding in the wild, and rainbow-painted elephants roaming the streets. I saw magical, mystical buildings – the famous Taj Mahal, rising out of the sunrise, the beautiful coral pink palaceĀ of Jaipur, and the famous Water Palace.

I also fell in love with fresh, creamy mango lassis, and enjoyed one for breakfast each morning. I mean, why wouldn’t you…?

While mangoes simply don’t taste the same in the UK (not so juicy, not so fresh), I couldn’t resist making my own, vegan version at home. This fresh, delicious coconut yoghurt-based lassi is a dream, and was quickly devoured by Zayn and Leo – as I’m sure you can see in the pictures!

In fact, the boys loved these so much that they drank four bottles worth in one sitting, and were still asking for more.

At the risk of sounding like an annoying mum…just look at how happy they were!

Anyway, if you don’t have fresh or ripe mango to hand, you can easily change the ingredients. I love making papaya lassis, too, while even pineapple or banana lassis work! Of course, since the ingredients are pretty simple, you can really make this your own.

Anyway, if you don’t quite fancy breakfast and want something light, this is the perfect morning recipe. Easy, simple and delicious! An ideal smoothie to grab and go in the mornings, or even to enjoy as a refuel mid-afternoon.

Mango, Turmeric & Lime Lassi



  • Serves 2
  • 1 cup fresh mango, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup coconut yoghurt (I used Co-Yo)
  • 1.5 tbsp full-fat coconut milk
  • Juice 1/2 lime
  • 1/2 tsp Lucy Bee turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp maple syrup (optional – I choose to omit)
  • 1/4 cup ice cubes (optional)


  1. Place the mango in a blender and puree. Add in the remaining ingredients, sweetening to taste, and blend completely smooth. Pour into glasses and drink immediately.
